As society finds its way forward from the COVID-19 pandemic, how can community college students step into their roles in the workforce of tomorrow? What do young people need to know – about their chosen fields, about their communities, and about themselves – to thrive in their careers?
Answers to these questions and more will be in the air Friday, Nov. 19, as Pasadena City College hosts a day-long event titled “CAREER CHOICE & YOUR VOICE.” PCC’s on-campus student population – which is estimated to be larger than any other Southern California community college this fall – will hear guest speakers, explore on-campus and remote support systems, participate in scavenger hunts and other fun activities, and visit open houses of tutoring and support centers. Faculty and staff will be on hand throughout the day to guide students in their journey.
The highlight of the day is from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., where students will crisscross campus looking for answers to riddles and other clues related to their career search. By the end of the day, students will have a clearer sense of their career goals and their self-empowerment as they prepare to enter the workforce.
The event is a hybrid experience, mirroring the fact that PCC is open for business and educating students in-person and online this fall. PCC’s Spring 2022 schedule, which starts January 10, is roughly 60 percent in-person. The college continues to make extensive preparations for a safe, healthy return to on-campus operations. The full agenda for the day is available here: https://pasadena.edu/explore-your-career/cc-event.php.
This event is open to media organizations. COVID-19 protocols will be in effect, with masking and vaccination statements required for all campus visitors. For more information, contact Alex Boekelheide, 626-390-7523 or firstname.lastname@example.org
