Pasadena Playhouse, the official State Theater of California and 2023 Regional Theatre Tony Award recipient, has announced a bold and ambitious 2025–2026 season that blends classic masterpieces, innovative new musicals, and enriching family programming. Under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman, the season invites audiences of all ages to experience a dynamic year of theatrical storytelling.

Mainstage Season Highlights

The Mainstage season begins with Jonathan Spector’s 2025 Tony Award-winning satire Eureka Day (September 10–October 5, 2025). The sharp comedy centers on a progressive school’s chaotic attempt to navigate a mumps outbreak and craft an inclusive vaccination policy.

Next, Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus (November 19–December 14, 2025) brings passion and envy to the stage in a powerful depiction of the rivalry between Salieri and Mozart.

In Spring 2026, the Playhouse presents a world premiere adaptation of Brigadoon by Alexandra Silber. This refreshed take on the Lerner and Loewe classic features a lush score, sweeping choreography, and a dreamlike journey through the Scottish Highlands.

Mexodus (Summer 2026), a live-looped hip-hop musical by Brian Quijada and Nygel D. Robinson, remixes history by exploring the lesser-known Underground Railroad route to Mexico in an electrifying theatrical experience.

One more Mainstage production is yet to be announced.

Youth and Family Programming

The Playhouse continues to engage younger audiences with two imaginative productions:

  • Song of the North (Spring 2026) is a visually stunning multimedia performance by Hamid Rahmanian, using over 400 puppets and projected animation to retell the Persian epic Shahnameh for ages 6–12.
  • The Lizard & El Sol, a bilingual play for children ages 0–5, will be staged in the Playhouse Courtyard and at parks throughout Pasadena. Adapted from Alma Flor Ada’s folktale, it features live music and vibrant visuals.

A New Era for Pasadena Playhouse

The announcement comes as Pasadena Playhouse regains ownership of its historic campus for the first time in over 50 years. Feldman calls the moment a pivotal start to the Playhouse’s second century: “Our new season is fueled by this energy. It is bold, ambitious, and vibrant… made just for our stage and for our beloved community.”
