The members of Oneonta Congregational Church held their 2020 Annual Meeting Sunday at the Church on Garfield Ave. in South Pasadena. The upbeat event emphasized “growth”.
Rev. Lincoln Skinner proudly reported that the membership has grown over 20% in the past year, to 161 members. Both the “traditional” 9:30 service and the informal “contemporary” service at 11:30 are flourishing.
Oneonta is a leader among the South Pasadena churches organizing the annual “South Pasadena Prayer Breakfast” (which this year will be February 18 at Oneonta; featuring speaker Monsignor Connolly, the Holy Family Spiritual Director).
The Congregation emphasizes outreach to the community, for example new approaches to the needy. The Congregation supports CERT, the Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA, and other local community activities. A Jewish group, led by Dennis Prager, celebrates High Holy Days at Oneonta!
The Congregation elected a new Church Board for 2020, and created a new music committee to enhance the music ministry at Oneonta. The financial picture at Oneonta has improved and stabilized. As a Congregational church, Oneonta’s Congregation emphasizes, “faith, freedom, and fellowship”.
“Our Mission, as Christians, is to love God, love others, and serve humanity.”
