According to Captain Dunn of the South Pasadena Fire Department the fire had already been extinguished by construction workers as soon as they arrived at the residence.

“We got a call into the station about a possible house fire at 1945 Meridian, we came down here (and the) fire was out on arrival by construction workers. We’re just ensuring that there’s no extension into the house.”
Cause of the fire is still unknown, no injuries were reported at the time.
