James Maines, 67, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 23, 2023, at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California following a brief illness.
Jim was born in Liverpool, England on June 2, 1956, the youngest son of Joseph and Kathleen Maines. Jim met his beloved wife Jean in Liverpool, where they were married in 1980. Shortly thereafter they emigrated to the United States. Starting first in New York, Jim and Jean made their way to South Pasadena, California where they began to build a life for themselves and their future twins Kristofer and Kerry. After a few stints living in New Zealand and returning to England, the Maines Family made their way back to South Pasadena in the early 2000’s.
Jim traveled extensively throughout his career as a sales and marketing professional, mechanical engineer and ultimately business owner. He successfully grew and operated the US branch of the company he worked for, for over 20 years. Jim retired in March 2022 and had made multiple trips back home to visit family and explore new places. Most of all Jim loved to spend his time watching his favorite football team Everton and camping in his RV with his family and their dog, Churchill.
Jim’s loss is felt around the world, with extended family in Australia and England and friends and business associates covering the globe.
Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean Maines; his children Kristofer and Kerry; his brother Joseph; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and his beloved Yellow Labrador, Churchill. Jim was preceded in death by his brother John, his father Joseph, and his mother Kathleen.
Jim will be deeply missed. He most certainly left his mark on this world, and he did it his way.
A funeral Mass honoring Jim will be held at Holy Family Church in South Pasadena on July 7th, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. The Mass will also be live streamed at the following link: https://livestream.com/holyfamily/live
