A giant yard sale, with all proceeds going to support the building and decorating of South Pasadena’s float in the 2023 Rose Parade, is set for Friday, September 9 and 10 at the War Memorial Building in the city.
Sales days are 9 a.m. to 5 pm. on September 9, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 10. The War Memorial Building is at 435 Fair Oaks Avenue.
Organizers are asking community members to donate items, which are tax deductible, to the sale. Drop off days for donations are Tuesday, September 6, September 7, and Thursday, September 8, at the War Memorial Building, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
It marks the second yard sale the organization has held at the site this year which proved to be successful in its first effort.
“At our first event, we were encouraged by many of our local citizens to host another one as they had so much fun, and were excited by the bargains they found,” said Steve Fillingham, the SPTOR yard sale chair and Co-Construction Chair of the city’s float.
Fillingham said donations of items to be sold are “very much encouraged,” noting that nearly everything is welcome with the exception of large appliances, mattresses and box springs.
For those needing help with larger items, Fillingham said SPTOR has rented a trailer and will pick up them up for the sale.
