Fire Department Welcomes Two New Members | Firefighter/Paramedics Join Ranks

Karol Markowski and Jonathan Nugent newest members of the South Pasadena Fire Department

South Pasadena Fire Chief Paul Riddle has welcomed two new firefighter/paramedics to his staff.

Joining the local fire department are Karol Markowski and Jonathan Nugent.

“I am proud to welcome the two new firefighter/paramedics to our department,” said Riddle. “Both Karol and Jonathon are highly trained and educated.

The fire chief said Markowski and Nugent are “both enthusiastic and are very quickly becoming part of the team.”

KAROL MARKOWSKI – FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

Karol has a bachelor’s degree in social ecology from the University of California, Irvine. He has previously worked as a reserve firefighter for the San Gabriel Fire Department and at AMR as a Paramedic. Karol enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with his girlfriend of 5 years and her beautiful dog. He is also an avid swimmer and hopes to compete in his first triathlon sometime in the next 2-3 years.

JONATHAN NUGENT – FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

Jonathan has a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and management from UC Davis. He has previously worked as a firefighter/paramedic for the Gwinnett County Fire Department in the metro Atlanta area. Jonathan enjoys traveling, most favorably to South America to visit family. He also enjoys trying culturally diverse foods. Jonathan is a die-hard Los Angeles Laker’s fan.
