Elderly Victim Targeted in Street Robbery | South Pasadena Police Department

On March 1, 2023, at 11:58 a.m., South Pasadena Police officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 1500 Block of Meridian. The suspect, described as a woman of Middle Eastern descent with an Eastern European accent, distracted an elderly female with costume jewelry. The suspect placed several rings on the victim’s fingers and proceeded to forcibly remove the victim’s wedding ring in the process while leaving the costume jewelry behind.

Officers arrived on the scene in under two minutes but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect, who had fled in a white or silver SUV in an unknown direction.

Law enforcement agencies across the county are reporting a significant number of
thefts committed by trickery where suspects have been targeting elderly victims wearing
expensive jewelry.
