South Pasadena’s popular and beloved toy store, The Dinosaur Farm, has been closed since May 4th and will remain so until late June or early July at the earliest due to significant rain damage from a recent storm. Repairs will require the main room to be emptied completely while repairs are made to the ceiling and flooring.

Owner, Dave Plenn, tells us it has been extremely stressful for everyone. It really hit home for Plenn a few days after part of the ceiling fell into the store when a 3-year-old boy peered through the front door, and upon seeing the damage, began to cry. “That really got me,” Plenn admitted. “The poor little guy couldn’t handle his toy store looking like that. I was doing okay until I saw that.”

“Everybody has been working hard to reopen the store, but following the building procedures and protocols means that everything takes time to get done,” according to Plenn. “We’ll be notifying people of the progress on Instagram (@thedinofarm)  and Facebook, and as soon as we have a Grand Re-Opening date, we’ll publicize it everywhere. In the meantime, we apologize – especially to our littlest customers – for any inconvenience this might cause.”
