Local favorite Hotbox Vintage has unveiled its latest designer collection, featuring the imaginative and colorful works of world-renowned Japanese designer Tsumori Chisato.
Tsumori Chisato, who worked closely with Issey Miyake for over a decade, is celebrated for her unique “hand-painted” aesthetic. Her designs blend inspirations from Japanese manga and French painters like Henri Matisse. The collection features feminine, bohemian pieces that are both playful and sophisticated. Every garment begins as a hand-drawn print before being transformed into wearable art.
Intricate Craftsmanship
While the designs often feature a childlike playfulness, the construction remains deeply luxurious. Each piece utilizes high-end materials and intricate details such as:
-
Custom embroidery and beading
-
Delicate appliqué work
-
Vibrant, lush color palettes
“Debuting these pieces in the spring feels like the perfect time to share this joyful magic with our community,” says the Hotbox team.
South Pasadena residents can explore these expressive pieces in-person at the shop or through their online boutique.
