South Pasadena High is one win away from grabbing a CIF-Southern Section championship in boys’ Division 4 water polo action after handing Diamond Bar a 15-10 setback on Tuesday night.
The match was played at a neutral site – La Canada High School.
The Tigers will now go up against Cate High School near Carpenteria on Saturday, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Mt. San Antonio College, for the CIF crown. Before knocking off Diamond Bar, South Pasadena got past Torrance, Calabasas, and Brentwood.
South Pasadena, on a four game winning streak, is 17-11 overall on the season and finished 5-5 in Rio Hondo League play for a third place finish.
Tigers Girls’ Volleyball
South Pasadena High’s girls’ volleyball team turned away the High Tech Mesa Thunder from San Diego Tuesday night in the CIF State Regional Championship tournament. The Tigers, in Division IV, play again Thursday at home in a 5 p.m. match against Chatsworth.
On the season, South Pasadena is 14-16 overall, and finished 7-3 in Rio Hondo League for a third place finish. Chatsworth comes in with a 27-19 overall record and fourth place finish in the West Valley League.
