Saturday saw a terrific fundraising event at the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena, complete with the doo-wop song stylings of The MoonRays along with dinner, silent auction, raffle prizes and an incredible array of chocolate!

For the Love of Chocolate is one of the Woman’s Club’s biggest fundraisers of the year and as with all of their events, proceeds benefit their philanthropic endeavors and scholarships. The evening began with savory appetizers, drinks and dinner provided by The Fresh Gourmet and, as the dinner was winding down, the fabulous MoonRays were introduced to the enthusiastic crowd.

Revelers could not keep to their seats as the smooth 50’s & 60’s harmonies filled the hall, with many getting up to dance right at their tables and others near the bar area. The MoonRays were absolutely fantastic, singing such crowd favorites as “Little Surfer Girl” by the Beach Boys and 50’s classics like “Blue Moon”, “Rockin’ Robin”, and Bobby Darin’s “Sailing”. The MoonRays are an all American doo-wop group based in Los Angeles and were the perfect complement to the fun evening.

And then it was time for the pièce de résistance, the Love of Chocolate extravaganza table! It was chock-full of cakes, cookies, brownies, chocolates, strawberries and a flowing chocolate fountain in the center for dipping. Amazing! And the crowd went wild for it! I mean, really, what party is not made better with a chocolate fountain?

Event Chair, Diane Crum, and longtime member, Beverly Biber tell us it was an overwhelming success and a good time was had by all.

Winners left with some dazzling prizes so be sure to check out their next event! To find out more about the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena and to get involved head over to their website. The historic clubhouse is located at 1424 Fremont Avenue in South Pasadena.
