PHOTO: Provided by Tournament of Roses | SouthPasadenan.com News | Virtual Rosebud Parade, hosted by the Tournament of Roses, drew thousands on Facebook Thursday. TOR officials anticipated 50 submissions but say more than 200 were submitted for a parade drawing nearly 10,000 viewers

The Tournament of Roses will host its first-ever virtual parade, featuring floats homemade by community members.

The organization behind the annual Rose Parade on New Year’s Day is excited to see what creative, young minds can build.

While Tournament of Roses staff and volunteer members are working on the 2021 Rose Parade, TOR officials thought they’d have a little celebration along the way.

In order to participate:

  • Imagine – What your float could be about or look like?
  • Gather – materials from around your house – recycled newspaper, construction paper, leaves from your yard – whatever can help bring your vision to life. (Even some of your dolls or action figures)
  • Build your float – anyone in your home can help!

Record a video of your float – show us what you’ve got, either in motion or standing still. We want to see it all and the special parts up close. Also, tell us a little about your float – the theme, what inspired it, what you used to make it and anything else you want to highlight!

Email the Tournament of Roses your video to rosebudparade@tournamentofroses.com by MONDAY, MAY 11

Tune in – we’ll compile the videos and premiere them via Facebook Live on May 28.
