About 50% of the South Pasadena residential population are renters.  A significant uptick in what is being called ‘no-fault’ evictions have been devastating to many people and families.

Nov 6, 2019 the South Pasadena city council held a special public meeting to address the issue with a prepared ordinance that would halt ‘no-fault’ evictions until Jan 1, 2020.

Council called for vote, and passed the ‘eviction moratorium ordinance’ at about 9:10pm Wednesday night.

This is a huge relief for south Pasadena renters as the holidays approach, and a good move according to organizers who will “take the win”; but, for many, this is far too little, way too late.
