Chief Paul Riddle reporting to The South Pasadenan News from locale: “At approximately 3:08pm this afternoon [Wednesday August 21, 2019] all units were dispatched to a reported house fire at 708 Charter Oak Street. The first arriving unit was actually a unit from Pasadena, truck 31. They reported heavy smoke and flames showing from the involved home which was 708 Charter Oak, with fire impinging on the residence just west of that structure, 700 Charter Oak. A 2nd alarm was requested immediately and South Pasadena received assistance from Pasadena, Alhambra, San Marino, LA City, and San Gabriel….. The fire attack went defensive and all fire personal were pulled out of the interior of the structures at approximatly 3:20pm due to conditions were just unsafe at that point – there was compromise to the structure, we started to have partial collapse to the structure so we pulled all units out… Home owner states that everyone is out. At this point theres no reports of injury to residence or firefighters.”
