At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, a two car collision occurred at the intersection of Fair Oaks Ave and Bank St in South Pasadena.
Both cars- one a grey Honda SUV and the other a black 4 door sedan- sustained major damage. The black sedan’s entire front bumper being removed and front end completely crumpled. The SUV’s passenger side and front fenders also received substantial blows as well.
Several units from the local fire and police department were on scene removing debris and investigating the accident.

One Paramedic unit was dispatched to assist with the driver of the black sedan, a middle aged woman, who reportedly suffered several injuries, according to fire officials on scene.
The passengers of the other involved vehicle, a family of three, one adult and two children, have reports on their condition at this time.
This major traffic situation during a time in which both the High School and Middle School’s students are dismissed (and in close proximity to the site of the accident ) combined with the inclement weather made for dire conditions as traffic was funneled on the southbound side of Fair Oaks and diverted to the other main street, Fremont Ave.
The language in this article is a bit over-the-top, I’d say. The driver of the sedan suffered critical injuries? Does the reporter know what “critical” means? It means really serious, maybe life-threatening. And as far as I know, vehicles don’t sustain “critical” damage.
