
A 21-year-old South Pasadena man is in custody after police say he tried to strangle a woman inside a residence on Bank Street early Friday morning.
South Pasadena Police officers responded at approximately 5:47 a.m. Friday, August 15, to the 1500 block of Bank Street on a report of an assault. Arriving officers found a female victim with visible physical injuries and located and detained a male at the scene.
Investigators determined the man had allegedly attempted to strangle the woman. Another man who was inside the residence intervened and was able to separate the two, according to the South Pasadena Police Department press release.
Izhar Santiago, 21, of South Pasadena, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was transported to Pasadena City Jail and booked.
Police have not released the victim’s condition or the relationship between the individuals involved.
