According to South Pasadena Police News release: A man riding an electric bicycle led South Pasadena Police on a high-speed chase through the city on Wednesday afternoon before being apprehended behind South Pasadena Middle School. The pursuit, which spanned 1.5 miles, ended when the suspect turned onto a dead-end street and attempted to flee on foot.

As reported, the incident began around 2:13 p.m. on November 20, when a patrol officer observed the cyclist committing multiple vehicle code violations at the intersection of Mission Street and Fairview Avenue. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, activating emergency lights and sirens, the suspect ignored the commands and fled.

During the three-minute pursuit, the suspect ran several red lights, reaching speeds of up to 35 miles per hour on the electric bike. The chase ended when the man, unfamiliar with the area, turned onto Rollin Street behind South Pasadena Middle School, which was in session at the time. With no way out, the man abandoned the bike and tried to escape on foot but was quickly captured by officers.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Cefin Kharique Fox of Alhambra, was found carrying a replica handgun and an illegal butterfly knife. He was booked at Alhambra City Jail on charges of felony evasion, possession of a prohibited weapon, and resisting an officer.

One South Pasadena officer sustained a minor laceration to the ear during the arrest and received treatment at the scene from paramedics.
