It sounded like something straight out of a Hollywood romantic comedy.

Dylan Burke likes to tell the story of how he and his wife, Venezuela born Marie Jose Adeyan, affectionately called Majo, first met, laying eyes on each other as they reached for the same box of cereal in a local Ralph’s supermarket.

“I have to tell you, it was love at first sight,” recalled Burke, who grew up in South Pasadena, talking about the day he and Majo together locked eyes on the Kellogg’s Froot Loops sitting on the shelf.

It forever changed their lives.

The story was told by longtime friend Lucca Camillieri, presiding over the July 20 marriage of the couple in the presence of a large gathering on a La Jolla rooftop overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the moments ahead of Dylan and Majo exchanging their wedding vows.

Following the ceremony, as the newlyweds made the rounds greeting guests, Burke was asked further about their initial meeting, explaining: “People say it was like a movie, but to make a long story short, we met on Tinder,” he confided followed by a laugh, referring to the popular dating app.

Quick to respond when asked how the pair became a couple, an amused Majo insisted the cereal story was true, to which Dylan exclaimed, “Saved by the bell!”

While how they found each other might be in question, there’s no confusion about their love and devotion for each other.

Lucca, telling their love story to an appreciative crowd, noted: “They deserve each other more than any of us will ever know. I’ve learned to know how perfect they are for each other.”

He went on to add, “I have no doubt you two are going to have a very long and very successful marriage.”

During their exchange of vows, Dylan told his bride, “You make me the happiest I’ve ever been in my whole life, and I’ve had a pretty amazing life so far. You are everything I’ve hoped to find in a partner and a friend, just by being you.”

Majo expressed her love saying, “Dylan my handsome and sexy groom, today is our day and I can’t believe it’s finally happening. I always dreamed about it, and it’s just how it was in my dreams.”

Carlo Thorbourne, Burke’s best man, noted there are three special characteristics that stand out about their friendship, saying Dylan is known for being genuine, spontaneous and generous.

“Because of these wonderful traits, I know you and Majo will enjoy a wonderful life together,” he said. “The two of you make a beautiful couple.”

Maid of Honor Fanny Gru, a sister of Majo, looked at Dylan and warmly said: “I hope you have a lot of fun growing old with her just like I had a lot of fun growing up with her. May you always be best friends. Cheers to you!”

Other family members, when handed the microphone, described Majo by using words like loyal, extraordinary, radiant, and loving, one explaining she has a “special spark.”

As remarks came to a close, Dylan’s parents – Jeff and Lorraine – deeply entrenched in the South Pasadena community – were pleased the two young people fell in love.

Lorraine thanked those for driving long distances, many coming from all parts of the country to be apart of the special day, before beaming at Dylan and Majo, saying: “I am just so grateful that you guys found each other.”

After introducing Dylan’s grandparents, Marcia and Jack, married for 65 years, his daughter Marla and her husband Chris of 13 years, and looking at Lorraine, his wife of 44 years, Jeff raised his glass, making a toast, passing along the words:

“To our seasoned parents, Jack and Marcia Triolo, and our young lovebirds, Dylan and Majo, who will be together for a longtime, may your marriage be as enduring and colorful.”
