There’s still time to get a close look at South Pasadena’s award-winning float in the 131st Rose Parade on New Year’s Day, but you better hurry.

All 40 floral-covered entries are on full display today until 5 p.m. during the Showcase of Floats at Sierra Madre and Washington boulevards in Pasadena. The entry cost is $20, but children under the age of 5 are free.

The City of South Pasadena earned the Mayor Award with its entry – “Most Outstanding float from a Participating City” – for its Victory At Last themed float, which celebrated the passing of the 19th Amendment, allowing women the right to vote.

Along with the 40 floats, the parade featured 17 equestrian units and 20 marching bands from across the country, including one close to home – Alhambra High School.

The parade proudly included Tournament of Roses President Laura Farber and Cole Fox, a South Pasadena High senior, who was a member of the Royal Court. Both are local residents.
