Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts has announced the addition of its 4th Music Program. With a 75-year mission of supporting music and arts programs throughout the greater Los Angeles community, the organization has now extended its vision and commitment by underwriting an LA Phil Resident Fellow. The Judith and Thomas L. Beckmen Resident Fellows program is an excellence-based training program aimed at supporting and advancing the careers for exceptionally talented young symphonic musicians who have demonstrated commitment to access and inclusion of underserved populations in the arts, learning, and civic leadership. The goal is to prepare them to compete for and win positions in major professional orchestras.

Underwriting an LA Phil Resident Fellow allows Pasadena Showcase to further its support of the LA Phil and invest directly in the next generation of artists who will shape the future of classical music. Current President, Dotty Ewing, said she was pleased to be on board to support the LA Phil’s program. “We are all about supporting excellence and experience in music,” she said.  The grant from was initiated by former Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts President Matt McIntyre.

Along with Pasadena Showcase for the Art’s other music programs and their close association with the LA Phil, the fellowship is a natural fit. The addition allows Pasadena Showcase to foster the appreciation and inspiration of music in young people from elementary school children all the way through to young adults. It joins three other music programs, the Music Mobile focused on third graders, Youth Concert, geared to fourth and fifth graders, and Instrumental Competition for high school students. In addition, through their Gifts and Grants program, the cornerstone of the organization’s philanthropic mission, the organization distributes nearly a million dollars annually to local nonprofits funding a variety of programs including music education, youth orchestras, music therapy programs, and concerts.

The first LA Phil Resident Fellow sponsored by Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts is violist Bradley Parrimore. Originally from Houston, Texas, Bradley was accepted to the Colburn School at age 16 and has degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and the USC Thornton School of Music.  He has played with orchestras across the country and was invited to join the viola section with the New World Symphony and was selected as Associate Principal Violist for the Jacksonville Symphony.
