As schoolchildren across the country celebrate the legacy of Dr. Seuss in March, Young Stars Theatre celebrates by presenting the engaging musical Seussical Jr. which will see it’s opening this Friday March 2 at Fremont Centre Theatre.
Based on the beloved Dr. Seuss books, Seussical transports audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus. The Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Full of dancing, singing and Seussian characters, Seussical Jr. is a blast for the whole family. As usual, YST’s production features two different and complete all-youth casts, with some familiar faces and some faces new to the YST stage, from South Pasadena and all over the L.A. area. The show runs four weekends (16 performances) from March 2nd (Dr. Seuss birthday!) through March 25th. As of this writing, both the March 2nd and 3rd shows are already sold out, so don’t wait to get your tickets for one of your 14 other chances over 4 weekends to catch this charming and heart-warming show!
