Young Dylan Rubin was thrilled to be named a winner in the photography division of the PTSA Reflections Arts Contest. An exhibit of the middle and elementary school winners was held at the school district offices on November 16.
Dylan won first place for Marengo Elementary and 2nd place in the district for the 3rd grade/age 8 group in photography. Dylan’s mom, Cindy, tells us he was over the moon to win in his category and had the best time not only looking at his work on display but also observing all the other art winners as well.
Below is his artist statement on his piece:
“A picture can last forever, which is why I like photography. I chose to make a “wisher” my theme because wishers make me happy and hopeful. Just like anybody can be hopeful for anything they want, wishers have no rules either! You can wish for anything you want! It’s important to wish and be hopeful at the same time.”
