  • Invitation to a “Special Non-Event” From The Womans Club of South Pasadena In Lieu of our annual Fashion Show Scholarship Fund raiser, our historic 1913 Clubhouse is planning to adorn a Fashionable “ termite tent” and will also begin structural renovation at the time we usually have our annual fashion show. We don’t mean to “bug you,” but hope we can count on your support. This is our major event to raise funds for the Club’s scholarships for local high school seniors. Please help us raise money for our Scholarship fund. All funds donated will benefit the Club’s Scholarships for local High School Seniors.   • Oak Tree Trimming Season is Underway! Residents are only allowed to trim their Oak Trees from July through October. In order to trim an oak or California native tree in South Pasadena, the resident must first complete and submit an application, available at City Hall, 1414 Mission Street,or from the City’s website. Before trimming is allowed, a City Inspector will examine the tree to evaluate how much can be trimmed while still keeping the tree healthy. A similar process exists for the trimming of all trees in the City. The tree trimming inspection and permit fee is only $60.00. Click here for more information on trimming trees.
  • South Pasadena is proud to be a Tree City USA member. Healthy trees are important to our city for a variety of reasons. Recently, City staff began installing tree watering rings in an effort to ensure new additions our urban forest will grow and flourish. Click here for more information on proper tree care and watering at your property.

Cruz’n for Roses Classic Car Show Sunday, September 16 at 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Cost: Free Location: Mission Street Between Fair Oaks and Meridian, South Pasadena The South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Committee invites you to their 14th annual Classic Car Show along legendary Route 66 (Mission Street). The show will feature hundreds of hot rods, custom cars, and classics, as well as a raffle, trophies, refreshments, food, exhibits, and vendors of all sorts. Car clubs and car enthusiasts are invited to join in the fun and display their cars. Independent judges will award trophies in all 18 car categories. San Gabriel Valley Water Forum Tuesday, September 18 7:30 am – 1:30 pm This educational event is open to the public, city officials and businesses. The program and luncheon will feature experts in the water industry who will cover important water topics on climate and water supply conditions, Delta sustainability, storm water capture, and recycled water. The participating partners include San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, Water Quality Authority, Main San Gabriel Basin Watermaster, Three Valleys Municipal Water District, Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, and NBC 4. Note for the first time the SGV Water Forum is approved for four (4) Continuing Education Contact Hours by the State Water Resources Control Board.Tickets. South Pasadena Public Meeting – Measure M Mulit-year Sub regional Progam Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at 1414 Mission Street, South Pasadena, CA 91030. The Arroyo Verdugo Communities Joint Powers Authority (AVCJPA) consists of the cities of Burbank, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, Pasadena, and South Pasadena and the unincorporated communities of Cresenta Valley/Montrose within Los Angeles County. Earlier this year, the City Councils approved the formation of the AVCJPA and have begun work on the first five-year funding plan for the JPA’s Multiyear Subregional Program (MSP). Funded through the voter-approved sales tax, Measure M, the AVCJPA must create their MSP in order to determine what projects to fund in the first five years. Return of LA Dodgers Executive Ned Colletti for Library Author Night on Thursday, September 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Community Room. Admission is free, refreshments will be served, and autographed Ned Colletti and Mark Langill books will be available for purchase. No tickets or reservations. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Mr. Colletti and Mr. Langill will sign books starting at 6 p.m. before their presentation at 7 p.m. and after the Q & A that will conclude around 8:30 p.m. Special surprises will be presented between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., including an appearance by Roger Owens, the behind-the-back peanut bag tosser at Dodgers games for more than 60 years. The 20th Annual Wiggle Waggle Walk will take place Sunday, September 30 8:00 am – 12:00
pm at Brookside Park at the Rose Bowl. Grab your leashes and your best four-legged friend! Help us raise money to provide food, shelter, medical care and other services to the thousands of animals—domestic, exotic, wildlife and livestock—who come to the Pasadena Humane Society each year. Once registration is open, you can create a team, join an existing team or sign up as an individual. Build your personal fundraising page and invite friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to join in on the fun. No dog, no problem. Kids and adults without canine companions are invited to walk around the Rose Bowl and attend the pet expo. The 15th annual Walk or Bike To School Day on Wednesday, October 10th at the three elementary schools as well as the middle school. South Pasadena Youth Commissioners will be at the schools handing prizes to those who walk or bike to school. Our local Police & Fire Department personnel will be on-site as well. WaterFest Saturday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each Fall, Upper District partners with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation to host WaterFest. WaterFest is a community outreach event focused on educating residents on water conservation and environmental stewardship.
