A selection of Cyndi Bemel’s photographs will be on display Saturday, February 19, at Waverly, a bookshop and cooking school in South Pasadena.
The event, slated from 5 to 7:30 p.m., will be held at 1010 ½ Fair Oaks Avenue during the City’s Winter Arts Crawl.

Bemel calls it a “new body of work” that was completed during the pandemic, noting that it “showcases the changing earth and the freedom of space that brings a calmness to the soul and the ability to breathe even if the future is unclear.”
Music and food will be a part of the reception featuring Bemel’s photography.
“Always evolving, the body of my work is fueled by the challenge of the moment,” Bemel writes on her website. “The movement of a bubble before the pop…the reflection, the manifestation of light, the depth of field, I thrive in these confines and continue searching beyond the boundaries.”

Further, she says photography is a reflection of a moment captured in time. “Exploring the limitations and challenges of photography has led me to the studio, a place to stretch myself. Creating reflections from scratch has pushed me to find new subjects which are dynamic yet still under control. A journey from seizing the moment to creating the moment.”
