It is also a reminder of the importance of family and friends, and a chance to say thank you to those who matter most to us. This Thanksgiving my family and I have so much for which to be thankful. “When I was attending college in the early 70s, I couldn’t go home for thanksgiving because our team had couple of basketball games during the break, so I filled in at our college radio station. One year I received requests to play Arlo Guthree’s “Alice’s Restaurant” album because the story is about events that happened on Thanksgiving. After making an on air plea, a listener brought the album over for our station to play. Every year since then I’ve spun the album at home on the holiday. This year after looking for the album, instead I pulled out the soundtrack LP, which varies from the original “Alice’s” album and was caught by surprise that it also contains the song “Amazing Grace.” It helped me to be even more thankful that I will be spending the day with my wife, Peggy, and that I work with so many wonderful folks in South Pas.” – Steve Fjeldsted – Library Director
