Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Investigators have identified Zehao Lu, a 41-year-old Chinese national, as the suspect in the murder of a 61-year-old Asian male in Arcadia.
A no-bail warrant has been issued for Lu’s arrest, and authorities believe he has fled to China. Detectives are seeking public assistance in locating him, warning that he is considered armed and dangerous.
Incident Details
On March 11, 2025, at approximately 6:26 p.m., Arcadia Police officers responded to a home on the 50 block of Woodland Lane after a caller reported that an intruder had entered the residence and shot their father.
Officers discovered the 61-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Emergency responders provided medical aid, and he was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Two additional victims, a 43-year-old Asian female and a 13-year-old Asian male, were found at the scene. The 13-year-old sustained minor injuries and was treated on-site, while the female victim was unharmed.
Suspect’s Actions
Investigators determined that Lu confronted the female victim and her son in the driveway, forcing them inside the home. A confrontation ensued with the 61-year-old victim, who was then fatally shot. Lu fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Authorities believe this was an isolated incident.
Legal Proceedings and Investigation
On March 13, 2025, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Lu, including:
- One count of murder
- Two counts of assault with a semi-automatic handgun
- One count of burglary with intent to commit a felony
A no-bail warrant with an extradition order has been issued for Lu’s arrest. The investigation remains active, with no further details being disclosed to maintain the case’s integrity.
