Twohey’s Restaurant, a staple of the San Gabriel Valley dining scene, is celebrating its 80th anniversary as a family-owned local landmark. Since its founding in 1943, Twoheys has proudly been serving the community with their signature dishes and fountain specialties, and creating memorable experiences for generations of customers.

What began as a diner in Pasadena in 1943, Twohey’s became a go-to family restaurant for Sunday brunch, after game celebrations and all manner of special events when they relocated to the Alhambra spot on Huntington Drive in the 50’s. They moved to their current location in beautiful South Pasadena in October of 2020.

To commemorate the milestone anniversary, Twoheys is hosting a series of special events in September. Throughout the whole month, specialty handcrafted cocktails were created to commemorate the last 80 years, and include the “The Nifty Fifty,” “Rockin 80’s” and “The Celebration.”

About Twoheys:

Twohey’s Restaurant, pronounced “2EE-s,” is a family-owned modern diner serving up nostalgic fare in the San Gabriel Valley since 1943.  The original location opened in 1943 when owners Jack and Jean Twohey opened their first restaurant on Arroyo Boulevard in Pasadena, CA.  At that time, the restaurant had 37 seats and quickly became known as the premier hamburger place for the finest hamburgers, onion rings and hand-dipped fountain specialties.  Located in Alhambra, CA in the 1950’s, the former location featured memorable drive-up carhop service from the 1950s to the mid 1970s.  Twoheys relocated to the beautiful community of South Pasadena, CA on October 10, 2020.  The new restaurant design pays tribute to all that was iconic of the past, including a lunch counter and soda fountain, full bar, outdoor patios, and private dining room in a welcoming and contemporary setting.

The Little Stink-O, clothes pin and tear logo was trademarked by Jack Twohey in 1943.  It originated when he overheard a woman patron of the restaurant exclaim, “Oh-Stink-O” when a gentleman next to her was served a hamburger generously garnished with onions and pickles.

Located in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley, Twoheys is situated at 424 Fair Oaks Avenue in South Pasadena, California 91030.  For more information, call 626 284-7387, email info@twoheys.com or visit www.twoheys.com.  Follow and tag Twoheys @Twoheys_Restaurant on social media.
