The South Pasadena Middle School PTA brought back a community favorite on Saturday, May 10 with the return of The Follies, a lighthearted, talentLESS variety show starring parents, teachers, and administrators. This year’s event introduced a new pre-show celebration: Follies Fest, an outdoor community party beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the school courtyard.
The evening festivities continued with The Follies show at 6:30 p.m., held inside the South Pasadena Middle School Auditorium, with doors opening at 6:15 p.m.
Follies Fest: New for 2025
Follies Fest added a vibrant outdoor celebration to the schedule, offering live performances from South Pasadena area students, food for purchase, and interactive fun like a photo booth. The new event was designed to bring the community together and kick off the evening in a festive, family-friendly way.
A Variety Show With a Purpose
The Follies has become a beloved local tradition, known for its hilarious performances and the commitment of South Pasadena’s school community. This year’s show once again highlighted the comedic stylings of parents, teachers, and faculty members — all in full costume and character.
Proceeds from the event directly benefited the South Pasadena Middle School (SPMS) Wellness Center and its mental health programs, reinforcing the PTA’s dedication to student well-being.
Behind the Scenes and Photo Opportunities
A dress rehearsal was held the morning of May 10, offering a great behind-the-scenes look at the show’s cast in full costume. Local press were encouraged to attend and capture images of the performers during rehearsal and the high-energy festivities of Follies Fest.
