The South Pasadena Public Library will host a Teen Poetry Workshop led by Poet Laureate Ron Koertge on April 22, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Library Community Room, located at 1115 El Centro Street, South Pasadena.
What to Expect
Teen participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about writing and publishing poetry
- Be inspired by a writing prompt
- Share their work and receive feedback from an expert
About Ron Koertge
A highly acclaimed poet and author, Ron Koertge has been publishing poetry since the 1960s. His works have appeared in notable publications such as Kayak, Poetry Now, and The Wormwood Review. He has authored over twenty poetry books, including:
- Yellow Moving Van (2018)
- Olympusville (2018)
- Vampire Planet (2016)
His prose poem “Negative Space” was adapted into an Academy Award-nominated animated short film in 2018. He has also won a Pushcart Prize (2017) and has been featured in the Best American Poetry anthologies (1999, 2005). In addition to his poetry, Ron Koertge is the author of several acclaimed young adult novels, such as Coaltown Jesus, Stoner & Spaz, and Shakespeare Bats Cleanup.
