South Pasadena (Calif.) – On Thursday, January 11, 2024, at approximately 02:00
a.m., a South Pasadena police officer on routine patrol saw two vehicles engaged in
suspicious activity near the 2000 block of Pine Street. Both vehicles committed the same
traffic infraction and the officer attempted to pull them over. Both vehicles accelerated in
an attempt to elude the traffic stop.

The driver of one of the vehicles lost control during a turn and crashed into a traffic
signal in the 1100 block of West Commonwealth Avenue in the City of Alhambra. The
vehicle was disabled, and two female suspects fled from the vehicle and ran into a nearby
business. The other vehicle continued speeding away.

South Pasadena police officers detained the driver of the disabled vehicle, 27-
year-old Emily Anne Harjo and passenger, 28-year-old Brandy Irene Harjo, both residents
of Garden Grove. Emily Harjo is currently on probation for theft, was driving on a
suspended driver’s license, and has an active no-bail warrant previously issued for her
arrest.
