Stand Up Comedian Lights Up the Community Room.

Local Stand Up artist Don Friesen stopped by to preform in the South Pasadena Library Community Room.

Standup Comedian Don Friesen blended a variety of old and new material, talking about his wife and kids, tech support, creditors and other life experiences during a one-hour act last Thursday at the South Pasadena Library Community Room.

Friesen kept the large crowd entertained with his self-deprecating humor, using improvisation, audience interaction and impressions, including Jimmy Stewart, Owen Wilson, and Bernie Sanders, to prompt plenty of laughter.

The fun-packed evening featured many of Friesen’s own life experiences, drawing from new material and a lively standup special, “Ask Your Mom,” included a spoof on his life as a suburban dad.
Friesen is the only comic in the history of the S.F. International Comedy Competition to win twice.

He and his wife Jill Scariano, married since 1992, have two children. They recently moved from South Pasadena to Tujunga.

Born and raised in Fresno, Friesen graduated from the University of Southern California with a business degree. While attending USC, he founded a campus-based improve troupe called Commedus Interruptus, that continues to perform on a weekly performances on campus.

Following his bit on stage, Friesen stuck around and held a Q&A with the audience, talking about how he became a comedian while providing a few tips to those aspiring to become one.

He tours the United States, showcasing his talent in a variety of venues, from colleges, comedy clubs, casinos, theaters, and theaters to corporate functions, cruise ships and now libraries.
