he South Pasadena Unified School District (SPUSD) Board of Education has selected Dr. Angela Elizondo Baxter as the district’s next superintendent. Her appointment, set for a vote on May 13, will begin July 1, 2025, following the retirement of current superintendent Dr. Geoff Yantz on June 30.

Dr. Baxter currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services at Culver City Unified School District. Her selection follows a competitive search process involving more than 30 candidates. She is recognized for championing innovative instructional programming and advocating effectively for students, staff, and families.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Baxter held positions as an International Baccalaureate principal, professional development coordinator, county office content specialist, and award-winning elementary teacher. Her diverse experience positions her well to lead SPUSD into its next chapter.

Dr. Baxter holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from USC, a Master’s in Education from Texas State University, and a Bachelor’s from the University of Texas at Austin. A local resident, she brings both expertise and a personal commitment to the South Pasadena community.
