The South Pasadena Unified School District (SPUSD) Board of Education will hold its regular public meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the District Office. Local residents and parents are invited to weigh in on key district updates, including staff compensation, campus improvements, and upcoming elections.

Contract Agreements and Staff Pay

A major item on the agenda is the approval of tentative collective bargaining agreements with the Teachers’ Association of South Pasadena (TASP) and the California School Employees’ Association (CSEA)

The proposed agreements include a 1% ongoing salary schedule increase and a 2% one-time off-schedule payment for the 2025-2026 school year. Similar salary adjustments are also slated for management and confidential employees.

Additionally, the board will review resolutions recognizing May 13, 2026, as the “Day of the Teacher” and May 17–23, 2026, as “Classified School Employee Week” to honor local educators and staff.

SPMS Campus Painting Project

Students at South Pasadena Middle School can look forward to a refreshed campus environment. The board is expected to award a $104,700 contract to C & M Painters, Inc. to paint the exterior of Buildings C and D.

This deferred maintenance project aims to preserve building surfaces and keep the middle school looking clean, safe, and welcoming for our local students and staff.

Upcoming November Elections

Looking ahead to the fall, the board will officially order the biennial governing board election set for November 3, 2026.

Three seats across Trustee Areas 1, 4, and 5 will be on the ballot this cycle. The district is also set to approve rules for candidate statements, which are capped at 200 words for the voter pamphlet.
