And the hits just keep on coming for South Pasadena High’s girls’ soccer team.
Seniors Uma Hornish and Noemi Howland were among top players in the area showcasing their talents last Saturday in the CIF-SS 2019 Senior Showcase at Newport Harbor High.
Hornish, a striker, and Howland, who plays goalie, were both highly instrumental in the Tigers securing the Rio Hondo League championship this season.
They were selected to participate in the Senior Showcase for CIF SS Division III along with their highly regarded South Pasadena High coach, Tory Lathrop.
“Seniors from all CIF SS divisions were selected to represent their high school and their division,” explained Lathrop. “It is a wonderful way to commemorate their time as a high school player and showcase the amazing amount of talent throughout the area.”
Howland started in goal for the Division III team and kept her opponents scoreless over the first 40 minutes of play.
Hornish played about 50 minutes of the match, seeing action midway through the first and second half of the victory. “They both played well and were able to assist the Division III team to a shutout win (3-0) versus the Division IV team,” said Lathrop.
The Tigers will be hosting their annual banquet on Tuesday, March 19, where junior varsity and varsity team members will be recognized for standout seasons.
