Chosen to represent the entire State of California, SPHS Junior Steven Chin won six individual medals at the recent U.S. Academic Decathlon National Competition in Frisco, Texas. One of only 18 students chosen from the entire country, Chin landed first place in art, literature and math, second place in speech and music, and third place in social science. All six medals were from the top division (Division 1) and the top layer of that division (Honors).
Overall this year, the SPHS Academic Decathlon team ranked third in the State as well as first place in Los Angeles County. Congratulations to Steven Chin, the entire Academic Decathlon Team and the SPHS Adviser, Oliver Valcorza.
