The South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC) presents “Slides and Lines,” a solo exhibition of Loran Calvin’s oil and slide paintings, opening September 17, 2022, at the SPARC Gallery @ South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibition will run through November 19, 2022.
In addition to oil paintings on canvas, Calvin transforms found slides (“memory holders”) with oil paint, glue, and plexiglass into explorations of texture, color, and patterns. Her works, exploring the emotional impact of color and the mysteries inherent in the human condition, have been exhibited locally at The Brewery Arts Complex, Mendenhall Sobieski Gallery, Space Gallery, StudioEleven, and more.
Admission to “Slides and Lines” is free. The SPARC Gallery, operated by the South Pasadena Arts Council, is located inside the Chamber of Commerce at 1121 Mission St., South Pasadena. (Masking optional.) Following the September 17 opening, SPARC Gallery hours will vary. To schedule a visit, contact Blue Trimarchi at (626) 676-4195.
