For the first time in three years, all hands within the South Pasadena Unified School District came together in person to kickoff the 2022-2023 school year. The annual SPUSD tradition during the previous two years took place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s event included welcoming remarks from Superintendent Geoff Yantz and SPUSD Board President Zahir Robb, and new employee introductions by Principals Sinclair, Cheadle, Narro, Busick, and Eldred.

Keynote speaker, retired Young & Healthy Executive Director, Mary Donnelly-Crocker emphasized this year’s theme of compassion and understanding when working with today’s youth. She inspirationally illustrated her motto “safe, seen, and soothed” with personal stories and encouragement from her own life experiences.

SPUSD looks forward to welcoming all students back to school on August 11, 2022.
