Community leader Ed Donnelly will serve as this year’s president of the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses, according to the City of South Pasadena’s SPTOR Committee. He will lead the all-volunteer group in creating the self-built float that will ride down Colorado Boulevard Jan. 1, 2024.

Donnelly is also chair of the City of South Pasadena’s Public Safety Commission. He is past president, South Pasadena Middle School PTA, and a founder of the South Pasadena DUDES (Dads Uniting Dads in Education and Service). He has served in leadership roles on numerous committees to help pass city, library and school tax measures needing voter approval.

The SPTOR Committee meets monthly at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month in City Council Chambers. The next meeting is May 2, and the public is welcome. Those interested in joining the committee can contact Donnelly at 213-446-1423 or ed@sptor.org .

Although new to the committee, Donnelly has access to a wealth of experience. Five current committee members in attendance at the April 4 regular meeting are former SPTOR presidents.

The theme of the 2024 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade is “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language.” The South Pasadena design and theme will be released in approximately two weeks, Donnelly said.
