South Pasadena Council PTA Honorary Service Awards

The South Pasadena Council PTA recognized five outstanding volunteers for their community service at their annual Honorary Service Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 10.

The SPUSD Custodial Staff at all school sites were recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation for their diligent support to keeping our campus and district office communities safe during Covid and beyond. This award was accepted by Nando Zuma, Plant Foreman at Monterey Hills Elementary School.

Sorrel Barnard (not pictured), Reflections chair for SPCPTA was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her leadership. She continued to make the program a priority for our local youth throughout the pandemic and grew the event by organizing showcases to promote the Reflections participants.

Oscar Madrigal was awarded the Honorary School Service Award. Oscar has worked tirelessly as Committee Chair for the Special Needs Committee. Oscar is also a authentic volunteer at large. Continually being available for any South Pasadena event or committee.

Alberto Ocon was awarded the Honorary School Service Award for his work as President of the SPLL for the past 7 years. Alberto has turned the SPLL program into a program admired by many, and continues to advocate for our local youth.

And David Lubs was awarded the Continuing School Service Award for his continued dedication to excellence, and service to the staff and students of SPUSD. He continues to go above and beyond for the employees of SPUSD and the community.
