City News Release
The City of South Pasadena will conduct three consecutive City Council meetings on Wednesday, July 30, to address a series of key municipal matters, including labor negotiations, a weed abatement hearing, and a budget study session for the upcoming fiscal year.
The meetings will take place at the Amedee O. “Dick” Richards Jr. Council Chambers, located at 1424 Mission Street. Public participation is encouraged and can be done in person, via live broadcast on the city’s website, or by joining through Zoom or phone. Written comments may also be submitted in advance.
Meeting Schedule and Agendas
6:00 PM – Closed Session on Labor Negotiations
The evening will begin with a Special Closed Session to discuss labor contracts. City officials will negotiate with representatives of multiple employee groups, including:
- Firefighters
- Police officers
- Public service workers
- Part-time staff
- Unrepresented management employees
The City’s negotiation team will include City Manager Todd Hileman and Assistant City Manager/CFO Nick Kimball. Although the session is not open to the public, any reportable action will be disclosed afterward by the City Attorney.
6:45 PM – Public Hearing on Hazardous Vegetation
Immediately following the closed session, the Council will hold a public hearing to confirm charges related to weed abatement. Property owners will have the opportunity to object to or ask questions about fees listed in the 2025 Los Angeles County Report on the Cost of Weed Abatement. The Council is expected to approve the charges as recommended.
7:00 PM – Study Session on City Goals and Budget
The final meeting will be a Study Session focusing on the 2025 City Council Goals and Priorities and the proposed Fiscal Year 2025–2026 Budget. City staff will present updates, followed by council discussion and direction on key budgetary and strategic planning items.
