The Los Angeles Kubb Club, based here in South Pasadena, will host its 9th Annual West Coast Kubb Championships on Sunday, April 27th, in Orange Grove Park. Played by people of all ages, the Scandinavian lawn game involves tossing wooden batons to knock down wooden blocks called kubbs.

Casual players and fierce local competitors, including John Petterson, Julian Petrillo, and Wayne Busick, who came in 3rd (of 144 teams) at the 2023 National Kubb tournament in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, are set to play and host other enthusiastic players from around the country.

Kids play for free in the tournament, where underhanded tossing is the only skill they need to play. Trophies are awarded to the top three teams in the Silver and Gold brackets.
And to get your aim on, weekly learn-to-play sessions will be held in Garfield Park on weekend afternoons leading up to the tournament.
