It’s sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday and is a day to pull shoppers out big box stores and malls and bring them to main streets across America.

South Pasadena shops along Mission Street and Fair Oaks Avenue are stocked and carefully curated with specialty items that can’t otherwise be found.

The small shops and boutiques in South Pasadena will open their doors Saturday and welcome savvy shoppers keen on finding just the right gifts, fashions, toys and supplies. Our local shops are offering discounts, specials and at some locations hot cider, drinks and treats.

Independent retailers like Fair Oaks Pharmacy, Hotbox Vintage, Santa Fe Crafts, the Dinosaur Farm, and Retreat are all lively with holiday activity.  South Pasadenans generally love to venture out, take a stroll along city streets and connect with the spirit of our Small Business owners who work hard to bring us a personal experience and unique ‘can’t be got elsewhere’ items.

The national campaign was launched in 2010 by American Express to help small businesses attract more customers.

You won’t be alone.

According to American Express, 85 billion has been spent on Small Business Saturday since it began eight years ago and 91 percent of consumers believe its important to support it.
