“Introducing…South Pasadena” was the theme of the latest Shop Talk presentation, a local Chamber of Commerce monthly event, featuring John Pope, the city’s new public information officer.
During his 25-minute presentation, Pope discussed the city’s efforts to improve crisis communications and community engagement.
He also talked about background as a journalist and government public relations, what a PIO does and why it’s an important function for cities and public agencies.

The early morning event at the Lost Parrot Café, 1929 Huntington Drive, also gave Pope an opportunity to share upcoming projects of interest to the business community, namely the city’s economic development plan which includes marketing South Pasadena to attract business and visitors.
The vision is to get others to take part in an “Eat. Shop. Do” in town.
