The South Pasadena Senior Center, located at 1102 Oxley Street in South Pasadena invites senior citizens to take advantage of programs and services offered to enhance their quality of life daily

The following will be offered at the South Pasadena Senior Center from October 11-18

Friday, October 11, 10 a.m. – AARP Smart TEK – The more you know about vehicle technology, the safer you will be. Discover how to get the most out of your vehicle safety technology. Understanding how the newest car technology works can make driving safer and more enjoyable. Register for a fun, free, ninety-minute Smart Driver Teck workshop to learn the benefits of the smartest safety features and how to use them. Offered by AARP Driver Safety program. Reservations are needed by calling 1-877-805-4115.There is no fee for the class.

Friday, October 11, 1 p.m. – Friday Cinema featuring “Mary Poppins Returns” a 2018 film, Fantasy/Adventure film, lasting 2 hours and 10 minutes. All seniors are welcome.

Monday, October 14 – Columbus Day! Closed.

Tuesday, October 15, 11 a.m. – Stroke Support Group – meets Tuesdays (expect 2nd Tuesday). Meet survivors, share courage, change focus to celebrate progress. Led by volunteer Reams Freedman with the Stroke Association.

Tuesday, October 15, 4 p.m. – Tech Support – Sign up to get assistance with your email, smart phone and any tech issues you are having. Membership to Senior Center is required and reservation for using service.

Wednesday, October 15, 9:30 a.m. – Crochet & Knitting – Class will continue this year. Learn to create fun gifts or bring your own projects. Instructor: Jean Shono, $5 per class.

Wednesday, October 15, 10 a.m. – Book Club – Contact the front desk for list of books the group is reading. Led by Liz Giffen-Glad. Registration required.

Wednesday, October 15 – 1:30 p.m.-3:30pm, Flu Shot Clinic – Protect yourself and stay healthy! Provided by Huntington Hospital Line forms at the rear of the Center. First come first served base.

Friday, October 18, 10:30 a.m. – Medicare 101 – With opening enrollment starting mid-October, come learn of any changes with Medicare that become effective in 2020, hosted by HealthCare Partners.

Friday, October 18, 1 p.m. – Friday Cinema featuring “The Miracle Season” a 2018 film, Drama/Sport film, lasting 1 hour and 41 minutes. All seniors are welcome.

Lunch is served Monday through Friday by reservation.

Monday, October 14 – CLOSED

Tuesday, October 15 – Baked Salmon w/ dill sauce

Wednesday, October 16 – Meatloaf w/ Spinach

Thursday, October 17 – Chicken Alfredo pasta w/ peas

Friday 18, October 17 – Chicken Cordon Blue. Cost per person $2.75 for onsite and reservations are necessary.

Home delivered meals are offered to those that are frail or recovering from illness, cost per meal $3, contact the office for any application.
