Largest “Taste of South Pasadena” on Record | Rotary Club of South Pasadena’s Signature Event

The South Pasadena Rotary Club hosted their largest, most successful “Taste of South Pasadena – Eats on the Streets” event ever Tuesday May 9 with over a record 1400+ attendees. Things kicked off with the festive wine and beer tasting at Canoe House where revelers checked in, got their commemorative glasses, dined on Canoe House’s signature pulled pork sandwiches and fried rice while sampling various wines, beers and spirits from a record-breaking 19 vendors. It was a family and pet friendly event, with folks of all ages sampling the food offerings from over 33 restaurants up and down Fair Oaks Avenue and Mission Street in South Pasadena that also featured live music and a traveling magician entertaining the crowds.

It was a cool, crisp evening that saw hundreds of people walking from restaurant to restaurant sampling savory foods like pizza, barbecue, South American, Mediterranean as well as sweets and baked goods and specialty non-alcoholic beverages.

The Rotary Club is a non-profit community service organization whose mission is to provide an opportunity for community and international service while building friendships and developing leaders. They raise funds throughout the year for dozens of local programs like scholarships for graduating seniors at our public schools, emergency grants for local restaurants to provide support during Covid-19, emergency CERT training for local communities, the annual Valentine luncheon at the South Pasadena Senior Center along with supporting the South Pasadena Library Railroad, YMCA. SPEF, Cub Scouts, 4th of July Parade, Tournament of Roses Float Build, SPTOR Crunch Party, South Pasadena Healing Garden, Women With Wings, Pasadena Ronald McDonald House, South Pasadena Library and much more.

The rotary also does many hands-on projects internationally providing potable water, support for volunteer pilots and doctors, support for water wells, sanitation systems, stoves, surgical tables and kits in places like Puerto Vallarta, Northern Baja, Haiti, Tanzania, New Delhi, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Peru. Members of the Corazon Club travel to Tecate, Mexico each year to build houses for eligible families.
