Sibling Registration Begins March 12; New Family Registration Begins March 19

Registration for enrollment in South Pasadena elementary schools for the 2018-2019 school year begins March 12, 2018. Siblings of existing students will be registered first, followed by new families in the District to help ensure that siblings attend the same elementary school.

After sibling and new family registrations take place, two different lotteries are held. First, the Dual Immersion lotteries are held to establish the Dual Immersion kindergarten classes at Marengo (Mandarin) and Monterey Hills (Spanish), and then the new family lottery is held to establish priority among the new families who have registered at each home school. The Dual Immersion lottery will be held on April 20, 2018 and the new family lottery will take place on May 11, 2018. These lotteries are open to the public and are held at the District Office boardroom.

Students who register after March 26, 2018 will be placed in their home school based on the order of date and time of registration, as space allows. If parents would like a child to attend a school other than the home school, parents must complete an open enrollment form, available at the school office, and turn it in to SPUSD, Office of Instructional Services, Room 4, prior to June 8, 2018. The open enrollment lottery will take place in early August, and those placements, if possible, will be made just before the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

Families interested in securing spots for kinder-care or after-care with the District’s Extended Day Program should visit, www.spusd.net, and then “Extended Day Programs,” to sign up to indicate interest.

Families with new middle or high school students may pre-register these students at the school sites beginning April 16, 2018 by appointment. Please check the school or District website for more information.
