Recycling Center Vanished | Pavilions Location Looking for Options

Getting your bottle & can deposit 'redemption value' back just became a lot less convenient

PHOTO: Recycling at Pavilions in South Pasadena is gone. RePlanet went bankrupt and closed over 300 SoCal locations without notice.

The Pavilions Grocery store parking lot location on Fair Oaks lost it’s 3rd-party recycling vendor: RePlanet.  RePlanet closed over 300 locations in Southern California this week after declaring bankruptcy reports say.

Currently, there is no plan in place at either Von’s or Pavilions for recycling according to management, and thus, no deposit redemption available.

The lack of service will displace hundreds of people per week who frequented the South Pasadena RePlanet location.

The SouthPasadenan.com News spoke with the Southern California Director of Environmental Services for Pavilions/Vons:

“We had no notice from RePlant about the closing and removal of the recycling stations.  We do plan to get a system going as soon as possible, but for now I recommend using the CalRecycle website to find the nearest location to return your cans and bottles.  We want to do our best to serve our loyal customers and are working for a solution.”
