Captain Solinsky Appointed Acting Police Chief

Captain Brian Solinsky was appointed to the position of Acting Chief of Police for the South Pasadena Police Department as of August 18.  Solinsky, who served as Captain in the department since 2015, will serve until a permanent replacement is found.  He replaces Chief Art Miller, who recently moved to Arizona.

Solinsky, a second-generation police officer, began his career in law enforcement with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He joined the South Pasadena Police Department as a police officer in 1993 and was promoted in rank several times throughout his career in the Department, including Detective in 2000, Corporal in 2005, Sergeant in 2009 and most recently as Captain in 2015.

Solinsky holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and has completed advanced course work in emergency management, counter-terrorism and organizational management.
