A high-speed police pursuit ended in a dramatic crash on Friday afternoon, April 18, 2025, when a burglary suspect in a stolen vehicle collided with a South Pasadena Police patrol car. The incident, captured on video, occurred around 4:30 p.m. in a typically quiet residential cul-de-sac.
Suspect Attempts to Flee Officers in Stolen Car
According to ABC7 Eyewitness News, the chase began after officers spotted a burglary suspect driving a stolen vehicle in a South Pasadena neighborhood. As officers moved in to make contact, the suspect attempted to flee, prompting a tense standoff and eventual pursuit.
Exclusive surveillance footage shows the suspect ignoring police commands to stop, shouting expletives in return. As officers surrounded the car, the suspect reversed into a parked vehicle, then lunged forward toward officers, narrowly avoiding a head-on crash.
Pursuit Ends With T-Bone Collision
The suspect then sped to the end of the cul-de-sac as officers closed in. With one patrol car blocking the road and others in pursuit, the suspect attempted to escape a second time—only to be stopped when an officer T-boned the vehicle, ending the chase.
AIR7 HD footage captured the aftermath, showing both the stolen vehicle and the police cruiser heavily damaged, with airbags deployed.
Witnesses React to Shocking Incident
Local resident Stefan Kazachki, who witnessed the crash, expressed shock at the rare commotion in the normally peaceful neighborhood.
“The odds of it happening right in front of your house are extremely low, so very surprising,” Kazachki told Eyewitness News. “I don’t think anybody was killed or even seriously hurt, so that’s good.”
Despite the intensity of the crash and attempted escape, no serious injuries were reported, including to the officers involved.
